Meet Charles Ward: A Leader on the Track, in the Classroom, and Beyond

Charles Ward standing in front of a treeCharles Ward, a junior who is an exceptional student, embodying leadership both on and off the field. Whether he's running on the track as one of the team captains, helping out in clubs, or encouraging his peers, Charles is constantly setting a positive example for others.

When he's not leading his track team to success, Charles is busy balancing a full plate of extracurricular activities. He’s an active member of Spanish Club, Ski Club, Alliance Club, and National Honor Society, showing his dedication to both academics and personal growth. But despite all his commitments, one thing remains his top priority: his schoolwork. "I make sure to always put my grades first," says Charles. "When I get home from school, I start or finish any work I have to do."

But it's not just his dedication to academics and sports that makes Charles stand out. It's his willingness to help others and make a positive impact on his community. "I try to help out where needed and show my face," he explains. "People can depend on a familiar face, especially when they’re involved in good projects or activities."

One memorable moment that truly reflects Charles' leadership happened during a track meet. A teammate was feeling nervous and anxious about the event. Having faced similar challenges himself, Charles took the time to show him around the venue, introduce him to others, and help him get comfortable. "He said I really helped him get through it because he knew his surroundings," Charles recalls.

For Charles, leadership isn’t just about taking charge; it’s about making a difference in the lives of others. He believes that the skills students develop through leadership roles will serve them well in the future. "There are spots for leaders everywhere," he says. "When students have practiced leadership, these roles will be no problem for them."

Charles' advice for other students? "Take the initiative. Sign up for more things to help out your school. Once you start doing that, it’s easier to step into a leadership role, and people will start coming to you for help because they know you’re trustworthy."

As for his future, Charles has big plans. He’s torn between two career paths: becoming a surgeon with a focus on neuroscience or pursuing a career in law, studying criminology. Whatever path he chooses, one thing is certain—Charles Ward is going to make an impact.
