Student Leadership Feature: Sebastian Odah
NORTH VERSAILLES — East Allegheny senior Sebastian Odah has always been a car guy.
It makes sense, then, that his career goals are gravitating in that direction.
Odah plans to study mechanical engineering after he graduates from EA, and from there wants to work in the auto sports industry.
He hasn’t quite decided on which school, but said he’s looking at universities in Indiana, North Carolina, and Ohio.
“I grew up as a pretty big car guy. I watch races, I’ve been to races. That’s the main thing I do in my life,” he said. “I think a mechanical engineering degree is going to help propel myself into the auto sports industry.”
Odah is propelling himself at EA, too. The soon-to-be graduate has been an honors student throughout his time at East Allegheny, and has take some Advanced Placement (AP) and college credit classes to get ahead of the game.
“The way EA has helped me is going through classes has gotten me on the right path, and the (Emerging Leaders Progrma), too. It’s been very helpful throughout the process — going through the hard classes and all that (has helped).”
“Even if it’s not directly related to mechanical engineering itself, it’s preparing me to go to the next level in college and have that same level of coursework,” he added.
In addition to challenging himself in school, Odah has been incredibly active with sports and clubs at East Allegheny. He’s played football and basketball and ran track and field since seventh grade. He’s also taken part in multiple clubs, including robotics, the Gay-Straight Alliance, and more.
“They’ve helped shape me into who I’ve become today and who I’ll be going into the future,” Odah said.
And he expressed appreciation for his time as a Wildcat.
“I think EA is a really good place,” he said. “… When you get into it, it’s a really good school.”
