• Logan Elementary School Counseling

Elementary School Counselors are certified professionals who help students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. At East Allegheny, counselors follow the ethical standards of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and the Pennsylvania School Counselors Association, and their work reflects the values of our district.

Counseling services are available to all students and include individual support, small groups, and classroom lessons.

    Individual Counseling

Students can meet one-on-one with the counselor for short-term support. They can ask their teacher to make a request, or a parent or teacher can refer them. These sessions are private, and the counselor encourages communication with families when helpful.

While school counselors can provide short-term support, they do not replace outside therapy. Some students may meet with the counselor longer depending on their needs.

    Group Counseling

Counselors also offer small group sessions to help students develop skills like managing emotions, handling stress, or building friendships. Groups are created with input from teachers, families, and the counselor.

Although confidentiality is encouraged, it cannot be guaranteed in a group setting. Group sessions are carefully scheduled so they do not interfere with classroom learning.

    Classroom Lessons

Throughout the year, counselors visit classrooms to teach important life skills. Topics may include:

    • Making friends

    • Solving problems

    • Coping with emotions

    • Building confidence

    • Exploring careers

These lessons help students feel more prepared to learn, connect with others, and succeed both in and out of school.

    What Students Learn

    Through counseling services, students will:

    • Build strong academic habits and a love of learning

    • Develop confidence, self-awareness, and respect for others

    • Make connections between school, personal goals, and future careers
