Services for Students in Non-Public Schools

Parents of non-public school students who suspect that their child has a disability and is in need of special education may request a multidisciplinary evaluation through a written request to the School Psychologist.

To receive special education services, a student must first be found eligible through a comprehensive evaluation.

To qualify, the evaluation must determine that:

• The student has a qualifying disability (exceptionality) and, as a result, requires specially designed instruction. (and)
• The student is enrolled in the East Allegheny School District.

Students who attend a nonpublic school may also be eligible to receive certain special education services through dual enrollment. If a parent or guardian chooses not to enroll their child in the district full time, the student may receive available services at scheduled times within the district.

Transportation to and from those services is the responsibility of the parent or guardian.
