Explore Healthcare Careers: Summer Academy Registration Now Open

Rising seniors from East Allegheny can dive into healthcare careers this summer through a hands-on learning experience. The free Summer Academy for Healthcare Careers runs August 4–8 and August 11–14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily at East Allegheny High School.

CCAC and the UPMC McKeesport Scholars Program host this exciting opportunity, inviting rising 12th graders (as of September 2025) to take part in interactive activities. Students will explore real-world healthcare topics like Crime Scene Investigation & Evidence Processing, Blood Typing, and Emergency Procedures. The academy also includes free field trips, including the Carnegie Science Center.

Students who attend both weeks in full will receive a $200 stipend. Daily lunch and PRT bus passes make participation easy and accessible.

Eleventh graders interested in joining can apply to the waitlist for a chance to secure a spot if openings arise.

This Summer Academy offers a fantastic chance for students to gain valuable healthcare experience, explore career paths, and enjoy learning in a fun, engaging environment!
