Remake Learning Days: EA is Transforming Education with Immersive Technology
As part of the annual Remake Learning Days event, East Allegheny School District recently invited educators and administrators to experience its groundbreaking Immersive Reality room and Active Floor technology, developed in partnership with XYCOM. East Allegheny is proud to be the first K-12 public school district in the U.S. to offer this cutting-edge learning environment, providing students with a truly interactive educational experience.
This immersive space enables K-12 students to engage their senses while delving into subjects such as ancient civilizations, molecular structures, and historical events. Attendees of the event had the opportunity to explore a variety of immersive worlds, from the African Savannah to a Viking village, and even venture deep beneath the sea. Additionally, they discovered career-oriented spaces where students could experience real-world work environments.
Holly Spallone, Head of the 7-12 Science Department, highlighted how teachers can customize content to align with their curriculum, creating dynamic lessons that are both engaging and memorable for students.
The event was part of Remake Learning, a free peer network for educators and innovators in the greater Pittsburgh region. The network helps people connect, exchange knowledge, collaborate on new ideas, improve their practices, and find funding to create more engaging, relevant, and equitable learning opportunities throughout Pittsburgh.
