Sebastian holds plaque where his name will be addedThe East Allegheny community recently celebrated a remarkable student-athlete who has exemplified hard work, dedication, and teamwork both on and off the field. Sebastian Odah was named the recipient of the 2024-2025 William Mooney Award, an honor that recognizes outstanding student-athletes who demonstrate exceptional commitment to their sport and serve as positive role models to their teammates.

The William Mooney Award is named after William Mooney, a former board member who devoted much of his time to supporting and enhancing the athletic programs at East Allegheny. The award is designed to acknowledge students who embody the spirit of dedication, teamwork, and perseverance, qualities that Mooney himself consistently displayed throughout his tenure.

Sebastian’s dedication to East Allegheny Athletics is evident in every aspect of his high school career. Not only did he maintain excellent grades throughout his academic journey, but his attendance was impeccable—he missed only one day of school this year and has not accumulated a single behavior report. His academic performance, combined with his athletic achievements, sets a high standard for all students.

In addition to his academic and athletic accomplishments, Sebastian made significant contributions to the school and local community. He was a key participant in varsity football, varsity basketball, and varsity track, showcasing his versatility and commitment to multiple sports. Outside of school, Sebastian volunteered at the Pittsburgh International Racing Complex (PIRC or PittRace) for Motor America, completed various projects for the Eagle Scouts, and actively participated in the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) student leadership program.

"Thank you, Sebastian, for everything you have done for East Allegheny Athletics and for being a shining example of leadership and dedication," said Athletic Director David Loya. "Your work ethic and the positive example you set on a daily basis have left a lasting impact on our community. We are incredibly proud of you."

Sebastian’s name will now be permanently etched onto the William Mooney Memorial Athletic Award Plaque, which is displayed in the East Allegheny High School Trophy Display. This is a testament to his hard work, leadership, and the lasting legacy he has created within the East Allegheny community.

Congratulations again, Sebastian, and thank you for everything you’ve contributed to both East Allegheny Athletics and the broader Wildcat community!
