November School Board Recap

 

NORTH VERSAILLES — The East Allegheny School Board of Directors met for its monthly meeting Tuesday night.

The Board began by honoring the high school marching band, which recently won a state championship with its Rocky-themed show. To learn more about the band’s accomplishments, read here.

The Board also heard from senior high school principal R.J. Long about a potential change to class scheduling. Under the proposal, the current seven-period schedule would shift to a block schedule. The proposal likely will be voted on in December’s meeting.

In other business, the Board:

  • Approved a motion to approve the proposal from Hudl for the Athletic Department Package, for a 3-year agreement lasting through the 2026-27 school year. The proposal includes many resources for the athletic department community at an annual cost not to exceed $9,200, paid for through the athletic fund.
  • Approved a corrected Memorandum of Understanding between the East Allegheny School Board of Directors and the East Allegheny Education Association for the revision of teacher report off times due to the change in school start times effective for the 2024-2025 school year.
  • Approved a feasibility study to be conducted by McClure Company for the purpose of proposing sustainable energy solutions for the District. The feasibility study is at no cost to the District. The feasibility study will examine the possibility of ground-based solar panels to be placed on campus.
  • Approved a field trip request for interested senior students to visit Penn State Greater Allegheny in McKeesport. Penn State will provide transportation.
  • Approved a fifth grade field trip to PNC Park on May 28, 2025.
  • Accepted the resignation of Jamie Lang as Logan Elementary School’s secretary and the hiring of Nicole Malone-Stelly to become the new secretary.
  • Approved a motion to hire Emilia Mattucci as the Junior-Senior High School EA Academy Credit Recovery teacher, effective immediately.
  • Approved the implementation of new after school events rules and guidelines.

The next Board meeting is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 2.
