October School Board Recap
NORTH VERSAILLES — The School Board of Directors met Monday night for its monthly meeting.

During the meeting, board members heard from student representatives as well as the marketing and communications department of the Allegheny Intermediate Unit. The AIU team discussed logo rebranding efforts the district will take on in the coming months, while the student representatives discussed their experiences at Logan and the Junior-Senior High School.
Among other business, the Board:
- Approved a motion to ratify an agreement with Pediatric Therapy Sources for a part-time speech and language pathologist. A prior approved agency was unable to fulfill the SLP position.
- Approved a proposal with Runaway Productions, LLC. for the purchase and installation of an upgraded auditorium sound system at the Junior-Senior High School. The sound system will be paid for via ESSER grant funding.
- Approved the purchase of SpringMath licensing for the 2024-25 school year, paid via Title I funds.
- Approved updated stadium rules and guidelines, including a no-bag policy.
- Approved Hope Gerbi, Donna Grzyb, and Janine Montgomery to attend the Mathematics Coaches Network events at the AIU. Coaches and instructors share strategies and resources for coaches to support mathematics teaching and learning.
- Approved the hiring of Mrs. Jennifer Junker as an elementary school special education teacher.
- Hired Natalia Saccamango as a varsity volleyball assistant coach.
- Hired Natalie Ciccanti as the Logan Elementary School Special Events Co-Sponsor.
- Approved a junior high field trip to the Carnegie Science Center on Dec. 3, 2024. The center has a multitude of STEM learning opportunities that will educate and inspire junior high students. Among them are interactive exhibits, science demonstrations, and STEM career awareness programs.
- Approved a senior high school field trip for principal R.J. Long, as well as Ms. Kranz, Mrs. Hallick, and 10 selected student leaders to attend the Eradicate Hate Summit at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center on Oct. 22, 2024.
- Approved a field trip request for interested special education students in grades 9-12 and two special education teachers to visit the Pittsburgh Convention Center for the Builders’ Guild Build on 2024 event. More than 30 construction/trade unions will be present to offer hands-on experiences and apprenticeship/career information.
- Approved a field trip for interested students in ninth grade and Mr. Pedulla to visit Forbes Road CTC for a hands-on tour in February. This tour will provide students with information helpful for determining interest in attending Forbes.
The next school board meeting will be held Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m.
