BREAKING NEWS!!

The superintendent of the East Allegheny School District approached the president of the East Allegheny Education Association, to try and come to an understanding to reach a settlement to avoid a strike for September 2. After meeting throughout the day between the superintendent of the East Allegheny School District and the president of East Allegheny Education Association, it was agreed upon to have negotiations this evening with both full teams. The board was notified at 3:00 p.m. to make a 5:00 p.m. meeting and 6 board members were present. The Board negotiated with the Association via the mediator from 5:00 until 8:30 p.m. in hopes of reaching an agreement.  Unfortunately, a consensus was not reached and while the mediator was presenting the Association’s position of refusal to the Board, the East Allegheny Education Association left the session. It is the understanding of the East Allegheny School Board that the teachers will strike on Tuesday, September 2.   Parents will be reminded via the District’s ParentLink system.  The Board remains open to continue negotiations on Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. if the Association so desires.   The request for final best offer arbitration letter was given to the president of the teachers’ association, which was refused.  Below is this evening’s Board proposal regarding wage and healthcare.
