SUMMERTIME! While I love my job, the students and the teachers there is nothing like summer. The building is quiet and it is a great time to rest and rejuvenate. What a wonderful sophomore year we had at Logan! Our students did an outstanding job this year. Our preliminary PSSA scores look strong - another job well done by students and teachers. Official scores won’t be out until later in the summer as well as the individual student reports. We mail those reports to parents either with the student assignment letters or the first interim, depending on when they arrive.
The end of the year events were a lot of fun. The 8th grade dance and promotion were wonderful. The last day of school there was a 6th & 7th grade “Welcome to Middle School” dance held in the afternoon. I think everyone had a good time. The field trips were a big success. 8th grade went roller skating, 7th grade went to the RMU sports complex. The 6th graders went to the folk festival. 5th graders had a great time at the behind the scenes tour of Heinz field and at PNC Park watching a few innings of a Pirate game. 4th grade went to the Science Center. These trips would NOT have been possible without the support of our PTO. I want to thank them for their support and hard work this year. All parents – please join the Logan PTO – all of you dues go directly to sponsor events for our students. Meetings are the second Tuesday of every month. Membership forms will be sent home in the fall.
There are big changes in store for Logan Middle School in the fall. Mr. Ray Morton has been named principal for the 7th & 8th grade. Mrs. Noreen Paradine will be running the main office. I will be the principal for grades 4, 5 & 6; Mrs. Beverly Pici will be the secretary. We will be housed in the downstairs administrative offices. As many of you know, Mr. Morton and I ran the Middle School and Westinghouse for a year. He and I share the same vision as it relates to student instruction as well as how to run a safe and orderly building. I am so pleased Mr. Morton will be part of the Logan administrative team, we are very lucky to have him.
I hope everyone has a safe and restful summer. I am off to see my son in Maui. I hope to get in a few smaller trips also. In between vacations I will be at work moving my office. Feel free to call if you have any comments, questions or suggestions for Mr. Morton ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
