IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENT INFORMATION
This past year the Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD)
established 3 new vaccine requirements for school age children.
Several notices have been mailed home along with reminders in report cards
that these vaccines need to be completed for the start of the 2009-2010 school year.
Students who do not have the proper immunizations will be on provisional
enrollment status until September 8, 2009.
At that time, he/she will be excluded from school,
under Pennsylvania School Immunization Laws,
until the necessary immunization requirements are met.
Please ensure your child’s health and safety by having him/her properly immunized.
Protecting Pennsylvania’s youngest and most vulnerable citizens against preventable
disease is a statewide concern and a priority of public health.
If you received a letter from the school and your child has since been vaccinated,
please provide a physician’s verification of the date of the immunization to the school nurse.
If your child does not have these required vaccines, please make an appointment
with your physician as soon as possible. These vaccines may also be obtained,
free of charge, through the ACHD. You can contact the ACHD at
412-578-8060 for more information.
